At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard Entertainment announced a new hero for Heroes of the Storm named Xal'atath, while also unveiling Doctrine, a vampire-inspired support character for Overwatch.
Xal'atath marks the first new Heroes of the Storm character in nearly six years, surprising fans after Blizzard effectively ended active development on the game in 2020.
Blizzard Entertainment pitched Doctrine as a vampire-inspired support hero with a high mechanical floor, launching alongside a new map in Overwatch Season 5 this October.
Addressing divisive gameplay, Blizzard announced dramatic reworks for Roadhog and Sombra, with the latter transitioning from damage to support in a rare role change.
Blizzard president Johanna Faries thanked fans for their support and suggested additional heroes could arrive in the near future as development continues.
