All Blacks ‘Heartbroken’ After Security Chief Dies Suddenly in Edinburgh – WTOP News
New Zealand Rugby said the former special forces soldier died after a medical event, leaving the squad heartbroken before Saturday’s test.
The All Blacks are mourning the sudden death of head of security Logan Cadwallader, who passed away following a medical event at the team's Edinburgh hotel on Sunday.
Prior to his 10-year tenure with the All Blacks, Cadwallader served in the New Zealand Defence Force, including deployments with the elite New Zealand Special Air Service Regiment.
Assistant coach Jason Ryan described Cadwallader as "a great team member" and "quiet hero," adding that the squad is "heartbroken" by the loss.
New Zealand Rugby Chief Executive Steve Lancaster extended "deepest sympathies" to Cadwallader's family, describing him as a "valued and trusted member" of the management group.
The team is preparing for the Nations Championship fixture against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday, though players struggle to come to terms with the loss.
