Aldi Makes Huge Announcement Affecting 45,000 Staff
Aldi Ireland will invest €5.5 million to raise hourly wages to €15.40, meeting the Living Wage Recommendation before the national minimum wage increase in April.
- Tuesday's announcement from Aldi Ireland confirmed a 2% pay rise, with the minimum base set at 15.40, effective from 1 February, said Niall O'Connor.
- The company said it is investing around €5.5 million in this pay review, including auto-enrolment contributions, to reward and retain colleagues, Aldi Ireland said.
- Aldi's network of 166 stores and over 4,800 staff will see pay progression now includes increments up to €14.71, according to the company.
- Niall O'Connor said, `We are proud to confirm a 2% pay increase for our valued hourly colleagues, effective from 1 February`, adding `This marks the eighth consecutive year we have met or exceeded the recommended Living Wage`.
- From March 1, Aldi said starting pay for store assistants will increase from 13.02 to 13.35, ahead of the national minimum wage rising from 12.21 to 12.71 per hour for eligible workers aged 21 and over.
