- On Friday, Aldi announced a £300 million investment programme to upgrade 25 supermarkets across the UK, targeting improved customer experiences in locations including London, Liverpool, and Aberdeen.
- Beyond the 25 upgrades, Aldi will extend five stores in Stirling, Paisley, Wollaston, Linlithgow, and Lewes as part of a broader growth strategy including a £370 million plan to open around 40 new stores in 2026.
- Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said selected branches will feature upgrades to Bakery, Health & Beauty, and fresh food areas to improve the shopping experience.
- Sustainability improvements accompany the refurbishments, with selected locations receiving energy-efficient fridge doors and natural refrigerants to help lower carbon emissions, including at the Doncaster Barnsley Road branch.
- Modernizing current infrastructure strengthens Aldi's national footprint as this commitment to existing sites complements the company's aggressive 2026 growth strategy encompassing new store openings and sustainability initiatives.
