Aldi's £36 million 2026 investment raises hourly wages nationally and in London, extends full-pay maternity leave to 26 weeks, and increases apprentice pay for over 45,000 UK employees.
- From March 1, 2026, Aldi is investing 36 million to raise pay and extend maternity pay to 26 weeks, the company said.
- The move comes ahead of the national minimum wage rising by 50p from £12.21 to £12.71 and follows two pay rises in 2025, Aldi said.
- Starting pay for Store Assistants rises to 13.35 nationally and 14.71 within the M25, with pay reaching 14.30 and 15.03 based on length of service; apprentices’ rates increase to 12.02 outside the M25 and 13.22 inside.
- More than 45,000 employees across around 1,060 stores will be affected by pay rises and benefits as Aldi reports a 1.65 billion Christmas sales haul.
- Aldi positioned the move as investment in colleagues, with Giles Hurley, chief executive officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, saying `Our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do`.
