Alert Ready Tests Emergency Alerts Across Canada on Wednesday

The annual test will send alerts to compatible cellphones and interrupt radio and TV broadcasts, officials said.

  • An emergency alert test will be conducted across Canada on May 6, except in Quebec and Saskatchewan, with alerts sent to compatible cellphones, radio, and TV broadcasts.
  • The test is part of the National Public Alerting System, a collaboration between governments and industry partners, to ensure Canadians recognize alerts during real emergencies such as wildfires, floods, and AMBER Alerts.
  • Since 2025, the Alert Ready system has delivered more than 946 emergency alert messages across Canada.
