Ukraine can no longer ensure the minimum water flow of the Nistru to the Republic of Moldova. The finding was made at a new extraordinary meeting of the Nistrene Commission, convened in the context of the alarming decrease of the water level in the reservoir of the Nistrean Hydroenergy Complex.
The hydrological situation on Dnestra has deteriorated and Ukraine is no longer able to provide the minimum amount of water that has been maintained so far, in order not to deplete the stocks and completely stop the water supply of already affected population centres in Ukraine, the Ministry of Environment reported on 29 September following an extraordinary meeting of the Dniester Commission.
The residents of Vălcineț, Ocnița district, are concerned about the situation on Nistru and say that they have no information from the authorities. "This has never been the case. Water is less and less. Nobody has told us anything, it is very serious. In Ukraine water is, everything is full, and we have closed it. Novodnestrovsck is full of water until above it, a local reported.
The hydrological situation of Nistru and the alarming decrease in water volumes were discussed at a new extraordinary meeting of the Nistrene Commission.
