Al Mustafa Welfare Trust Warns of Escalating Water Crisis Devastating Muslim Communities Across Three Continents
The charity says cuts to aid and conflict have left more than 400 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa without basic water services.

Structural failures in Global Development Investment have caused infrastructure projects to stall, while reduced aid budgets and insufficient climate adaptation funding prevent resources from reaching vulnerable communities.
More than 2 billion people worldwide lack safe drinking water according to WHO and UNICEF, including over 400 million in Sub-Saharan Africa, 16 million in Yemen, and 97% of Gaza's groundwater unfit for consumption.
Since 1983, the Trust has installed nearly 18,000 hand water pumps across 25 countries through its Water for Life Programme, operating under a 100% Zakat Policy ensuring direct aid delivery to communities.
The charity urges UK donors and policymakers to support the Palestine Emergency Appeal and Well Appeal, describing clean water as a fundamental human right for the vulnerable communities it serves.
