This is the first group action in France in connection with the fatal airbag scandal. This is the first class action brought in France regarding these defective airbags, which have been responsible for at least 60 deaths in 11 countries over the past 15 years, including 18 in France.
The association intends to claim from the French manufacturer compensation for the owners of vehicles subject to forced immobilization at the request of the government. At least three of the motorists killed in recent years by defective Japanese airbags were driving a Citroën C3.
