In the face of company grunts and the risk of some routes disappearing, Berlin plans to go back to the increase in the taxes applied to airline tickets since 2024. Other countries, such as France, have recently increased these levies.
More and more expensive tickets, ever thinner offer of airlines. That should change now.
In the coalition agreement, the CDU/CSU and SPD agreed to reduce “air transport-specific taxes, fees and charges” and to reverse “the increase in the air transport tax.”
The Federal Government wants to take back the increase in aviation tax, which the previous government put into effect in May 2024, in 2026.
