AIFF to hold General Elections on December 20 | Sports-Games
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the All India Football Federation held its Special General Body Meeting in Kolkata, officially scheduling general elections for December 20, 2026.
The federation extended the current Executive Committee's tenure until December 30, 2026, to allow time for implementing the National Sports Governance Act, which delayed the electoral process.
Former Haryana State Election Commissioner Rajeev Sharma was appointed Electoral Officer to oversee the process, while officials from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation attended to ensure international oversight.
Incumbent AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey, elected in September 2022 for a four-year term, will see the electoral process bring fresh leadership to Indian football governance.
Officials gathered in Kolkata during the men's team's international friendlies against Brazil and Uruguay, where the federation also clarified it did not fund the visiting World Cup nations' travel.
