AI-powered robot dances for Putin days after another Russian robot stumbles

Sberbank's AI humanoid robot performed successfully on state TV after a recent mishap with another robot, highlighting ongoing software upgrades and integration plans.

  • On Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin attended a Sberbank exhibition where the AI-powered humanoid robot introduced itself, saying, `I am the first Russian humanoid robot with embedded artificial intelligence,` and danced, shown on state TV.
  • Days earlier, another Russian robot, AIDOL, failed on stage when it fell flat shortly after appearing in Moscow; Vladimir Vitukhin, AIDOL chief executive, blamed voltage fluctuation and lighting for Tuesday's fall.
  • At the exhibition, security and hardware demos accompanied the humanoid performance as a Sberbank bodyguard stood between the robot and President Vladimir Putin, who also inspected a Sberbank smart cash machine using 10 indicators.
  • Putin praised the performance as `very beautiful` and thanked it before continuing his tour, while Dmitry Filonov, editor-in-chief of Edinorog Media, said the audience first fell silent and then applauded, and Putin said he'd recently had a health checkup and was fine.
  • The contrasting outcomes highlight Sberbank's integration plans amid a rocky public debut for another Russian robot as organisers removed the failed Aidol presentation from view in front of about 50 journalists.
