Police in Graz had a dangerous encounter on Thursday after a routine visit to the home of a deceased 83-year-old man. They found a highly venomous green mamba in a terrarium. Dozens of other reptiles surviving in desperate conditions were found in the man's second apartment.

During an apartment opening in Graz, 27 live snakes (17 of them "highly dangerous and extremely poisonous") were found, the Styrian State Police Directorate said in a press release on Friday.

Countless snakes were discovered in the living rooms of a deceased 83-year-old in Graz. 17 of the animals were classified by the authorities as "highly dangerous and extremely toxic".

83-year-old had hoarded the reptiles in two apartments in Seckau and in Graz. After the death of the man there were explosive police missions.
