4 More Arrested in Toronto Incidents of Shots Fired at Jewish People
Police say the assaults were organized and planned, and two other youths remain at large after investigators linked the suspects to both incidents.
Toronto Police Service charged four additional suspects on May 22 in connection with two alleged hate-motivated assaults against Jewish community members using a gel-blaster imitation firearm.
Ruslan Novruzov was arrested on May 8 and charged after two planned attacks on April 30 and May 7 targeted Jewish people struck by gel beads from a blue Lexus SUV.
Luka Chokheli, 20, and Alishahin Isayev, 23, face assault and weapon charges alongside a 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl, with investigators alleging the incidents were organized and planned.
Chief Supt. Katherine Stephenson said the assaults were "deliberately targeted," creating "fear, anxiety, and uncertainty" for the community, while police continue identifying two additional outstanding suspects.
With the upcoming Walk with Israel on June 7, police are increasing visibility in the area to ensure safety and maintain a robust plan for the community event.
