The annual forest fires on Indonesia's Kalimantan are particularly extensive this time. The fire, started for mining and plantations and fueled by the drought, is said to have already destroyed 60 percent of the habitat of the critically endangered orangutan. Many residents, suffering from the toxic smoke, end up in the hospital and are administered oxygen.
