EV demand powers Europe car market in May, Chinese rivals expand share
One in five new cars in the European Union is now an electric car, according to the industry association "ACEA".
One in five new cars in the EU drives purely electric. Also in May the Stromer approvals increased again significantly.
Electric and hybrid cars continued to drive the car market in the EU in May. Volkswagen remains by far the market leader, but sold less. And Chinese competitors are slowly catching up.

Demand for electrified cars continued to underpin growth in Europe's auto market in May, offsetting a sharp decline in petrol and diesel sales and allowing Chinese brands to expand their footprint, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association showed today.
Sales of electric cars increased significantly in the EU in May, and hybrids also increased. Chinese suppliers in particular were able to increase their sales.
