Tumbler Ridge Shooter Alleged Co-Conspirator Indicted by U.S. Grand Jury
Prosecutors say Bryant helped test and broadcast the attack online, sent $14.33 for an explosive component and advised on targets and weapons.
On Wednesday, a Seattle grand jury indicted James Cody Bryant, 30, for conspiracy to murder persons in a foreign country regarding the February 10 mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in Canada that killed seven people.
Before the massacre, Bryant allegedly conspired with shooter Jesse Van Rootselaar to broadcast the attack, providing tactical advice and testing livestream quality months before the February 10 event.
Federal filings cite thousands of communications between the pair during the six months preceding the shooting, including Bryant sending $14.33 via PayPal for a lighter and discussing concealment of their communications.
Magistrate Judge Mary Alice Theiler denied Bryant bail on Tuesday, October 13; he remains in custody with arraignment scheduled for October 22.
Conspiracy to murder persons in a foreign country carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, while the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the RCMP continue investigating the case.
