Hungary has again blocked an important step in Ukraine's accession process to the European Union. Budapest refuses to open a new negotiating chapter and conditions the continuation of Kiev's European course for the application of guarantees on the rights of the Hungarian community in Ukraine.
Hungary has again blocked progress in Ukraine's accession process to the European Union, conditional on any further steps being taken by guarantees on the protection of the rights of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine. Budapest has not, however, blocked the parallel accession process of the Republic of Moldova, although other Member States are opposed to the separation of the two processes.
