Academic freedom must be enshrined in the constitution, and freedom of expression for scientists must be better protected by knowledge institutions. This is stated in an advisory report from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences (KNAW) to Minister of Education Rianne Letschert. The KNAW also calls for a tightening of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Act.
