The Ecuadorian government identified Comandos de la Frontera, a group that was born with dissidents from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), as responsible for the attack in which eleven Ecuadorian military personnel who were carrying out illegal mining control tasks were killed.
