A Texas girl survived a house fire. Her local McDonald's just gave her a full ride to college.
Anthony Grissett says the offer will cover college if Delilah keeps her grades up and later works for McDonald’s.
McDonald's franchise owner Anthony Grissett offered an 11-year-old fire survivor named Delilah a full college scholarship in Arlington, Texas, contingent on her academic success and future employment with the company.
The gesture follows a March house fire in Arlington where Delilah was trapped inside, resulting in over one month of hospitalization for second- and third-degree burns to her face and arms.
Firefighters assisted Delilah's recovery by driving her to school on her first day back, while Grissett later visited her classroom with lunch and the character Grimace to provide encouragement.
Delilah says the scholarship offer has made her more eager to work hard in school, as she does not want to waste the opportunity provided to her.
Grissett described the contribution as worth "every penny," saying, "It provides joy to satisfy people and that is my purpose. Caring for others is how you change the world.
