- On Tuesday, a Swedish court sentenced a 61-year-old man to four years and five months in prison for having "ruthlessly exploited" his wife to have sex with scores of men for payment.
- Prosecutor Ida Annerstedt told the court the man warned his wife "the monster would be released" if she angered him, while he was convicted of "aggravated pimping," assault, and issuing threats over three years.
- The case, which identified some 120 buyers, has shocked Sweden; out of 29 people charged with buying sex, 28 were convicted, with two receiving prison sentences.
- Although the court dismissed eight rape charges against the man, Judge Johan Ahlberg noted, "The trial has been long and demanding for the parties and others involved."
- The case draws comparisons to the 2024 conviction in France of Gisele Pelicot's husband, who was found guilty of drugging her and allowing scores of men to rape her while she was unconscious.
