Myanmar Military Strike Kills 14 People at a Buddhist Monastery, Opposition Group Says
An airstrike by Myanmar's military on a Buddhist monastery in the Sagaing region killed 14 people attending a meditation retreat, according to an opposition group and a local resident.
The attack occurred at 9 a.m. in Swel Le Oh village, Myaung township, about 75 kilometers west of Mandalay, killing 14, including three women, and wounding 20 others when jets dropped bombs on the monastery compound.
This strike is part of ongoing aerial attacks targeting pro-democracy and ethnic armed groups in Myanmar.
These military strikes often result in civilian casualties.
AP reported that 14 people were killed and 20 injured in an attack by a military aircraft on a Buddhist monastery in Myanmar's Sagaing region. Local sources said there were two attacks within 15 minutes of each other.
