A man arrested at Trump golf course near Los Angeles set to appear in court on weapons charge
Federal agents found a loaded pistol, ammunition and an unregistered rifle after Jeanine John Taele posed as security near Trump’s golf club, prosecutors said.
- Jeanine John Taele faces federal weapons charges after his arrest Sunday at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, where he allegedly posed as part of the security detail preparing for President Donald Trump's visit.
- A search of his truck and Downey home on Monday revealed a loaded 9mm pistol, a badge reading "security protection agent," and an illegally modified AR-style rifle with a 10-inch barrel cut from 14 inches.
- Citing previous assassination attempts in Butler, Pennsylvania and Florida, FBI Los Angeles Assistant Director Patrick Grandy stated "there is no room for error" regarding the security response to Taele's troubling behavior.
- Responding to the arrest on Fox News yesterday, Trump remarked that "only consequential presidents" are targeted, stating the situation brought him "a little solace."
- Taele served as a corporal in the Marine Corps, completing deployments to Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2010, according to U.S. Marine Corps records.
