New signals being put into place at the High Street and Upper High Street junction will use less electricity and are cheaper to maintain. Some of the vehicle detection equipment currently embedded in the road surface will also be replaced with above-ground technology. The council says this means fewer future excavations will be needed which will help to reduce disruption and roadworks in years to come.
