The Plaza de las Américas de Chipiona (Cádiz) has hosted this Sunday morning a rally called by the citizen platform "Save the Guadalquivir", created by environmental groups, scientists, teachers and professionals from various fields; in the face of the fear of an "imminent catastrophe" in the river as a result of the impact of the industrial mining of Seville and its "pollutant discharges".
A civic rally has taken the streets of Chipiona this Sunday to demand an immediate moratorium on the mining spills in the Guadalquivir River. The protest, backed by municipalities and collectives of various kinds, has put on the table a clear claim: to stop the discharges from the Copper Las Cruces mines and the Los Frailes (Aznalcóllar) and to create an independent scientific committee to analyze their consequences.
