A 13-year-old boy in Thailand died after being stung by a highly venomous jellyfish, the Flecker's four-winged jellyfish (Chironex fleckeri), also known as the sea wasp, while swimming near a beach. The boy was about ten meters from shore at the time.

The tragedy occurred on Saturday, August 1st on Ban Fai Tha beach, in the Sichon district of southern Thailand.
