‘Annan Seer Thittam’: One Sovereign Gold Coin, Silk Saree for Brides
The Tamil Nadu government under Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay allocated over Rs 1,000 crore for welfare schemes including gold coins and silk sarees for brides and a one-gram gold ring for newborns delivered in government hospitals.
Finance Minister N Marie Wilson announced a 100% subsidy for five goats or sheep to destitute widows, deserted women, transgender persons, and persons with disabilities, benefiting about 30,000 people at a cost of Rs 110 crore.
The government will provide free milch cows to eligible women annually, supporting rural women's livelihoods and increasing milk production.
The budget also allocates Rs 500 crore for the procurement of 1,000 new air-conditioned electric buses for Chennai MTC as part of the latest budget.
8 gram gold and silk saree For married women: Women will be provided with 8 grams of gold at the time of their wedding. Finance Minister Maria Wilson announced that, under the Annan Seer scheme, women would receive 8 grams of gold and a silk saree at their weddings.
