72-year-old diploma found at thrift store returned to high school
Eddie Sein said the diploma was in unusually good condition and spent more than a year trying to return it before mailing it back.
Oklahoma TikToker Eddie Sein mailed a 1954 Grants High School diploma back to the institution after discovering the document in pristine condition at an Oklahoma City Goodwill bin.
After finding the diploma belonging to Ted Arvizo, Sein kept the item for over a year, unable to discard what he suspected was accidentally donated by mistake.
A TikTok video eventually drew comments from New Mexico users connected to Grants High School, who helped link Sein with Assistant Principal Miranda Barajas, confirming the school would receive the diploma.
Sein stated, "Now, the students of today at Grants, they can go back and see some of the students that came before them," envisioning the diploma as a historical artifact.
The diploma has arrived back in New Mexico, where Grants High School officials plan to preserve it as part of the institution's history, securing the legacy of alumni like Arvizo.
