The body in diving trunks found on the beach in Westende is that of an 82-year-old man from the United Kingdom. This has been confirmed by the West Flanders Public Prosecutor's Office. He had been reported missing. How he died is still under investigation.

A British 64 year old man lost his life in an unfortunate diving incident in Wied Iż Żurrieq earlier today. The incident occurred around 330pm and the diver was brought ashore by AfM and Civil Protection personnel. A 64-year-old English man has sadly lost his life while diving in Wied iż-Żurrieq. The incident occurred at around 3.30pm. Police officers, along with members of the Civil Protection Department, immediately went on site and brought the diver ashore.
