1 person dead after propane explosion at Peterborough golf course
Police said the explosion killed a staff member and triggered a multi-agency investigation into the cause.
On Wednesday, a 63-year-old man from Warkworth suffered life-threatening injuries in a propane tank explosion at Bellemere Winds Golf Resort on Villiers Line in Otonabee-South Monaghan, Peterborough County OPP said.
The victim, a staff member at the resort, was transported by ambulance and then airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital with no other injuries reported in the explosion.
Great Blue Resorts confirmed the victim was an employee and stated the executive team is "cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities" as the investigation proceeds.
OPP confirmed the man died early Thursday morning, with the investigation led by police alongside the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
Additional agencies including the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, Office of the Chief Coroner, and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are assisting to determine circumstances of the fatal explosion.
