Christmas Statue Stolen From Funeral Home in Kent
Two men from Sheerness were arrested after a £250 festive nutcracker was stolen from a funeral home, with police appealing for information to aid its safe return.
- On Friday, Kent Police say a 5ft singing nutcracker was taken from outside Luke Allum Funeral Directors in Sheerness, and it was believed to be stolen at about 1pm.
- This year’s musical nutcracker was part of the funeral director’s seasonal offerings, Mr Allum said, with staff switching it on around 3pm to entertain pupils finishing school.
- Kent Police arrested two local men, aged 59 and 39, from Sheerness in connection with the theft; the 250 statue was bought in September and is now impossible to replace.
- Kent Police are appealing for witnesses and CCTV to help recover the nutcracker, urging anyone with information to call 01795 419119 quoting 46/208343/25; the force hopes to return it to Mr Allum.
- Expressing bafflement, Mr Allum asked `You think 'why have you stolen a nutcracker, out of everything?'`, and reported the theft on social media, receiving many supportive messages from the local community and schoolchildren.
