A shipment of 52.5 million counterfeit cigarettes originating in Vietnam was seized at the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, by personnel from Mexico's National Customs Agency (ANAM). The shipment was detected during a transshipment operation through document analysis and a review of commercial records, ANAM reported in a statement on the 20th.

More than 865 thousand cigarette packs were placed under a provisional measure in the Customs Office of Mexico City International Airport (AICM) following an inspection carried out on August 19 by federal authorities in the event of a possible violation of industrial property rights related to the Pall Mall brand.
