Starting September 1, five hundred residents of Nijmegen will be allowed to travel by train for free for six months, both during and outside of peak hours. The municipality is participating in a trial by NS. This is intended to "combat mobility inequality and gain better insight into the travel needs of people for whom travel costs are a barrier."
