Magnitude 4.9 Earthquake Rocks Southern California, Aftershocks Continue

  • On Jan. 19, the U.S. Geological Survey recorded a magnitude 4.9 earthquake at 5:56 p.m. near Indio, Riverside County, about 11 miles north-northeast of Palm Desert in the Coachella Valley.
