4 found dead in Doral home in what is believed to be a murder-suicide, Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office says
Authorities say all four victims had stab wounds and detectives have not identified who they believe carried out the killings.
- On Tuesday night, Doral police discovered the bodies of Melanie Lauren Hyer, 46, Ryan Charles Whiten, 42, and their two daughters, Savannah Whiten, 11, and Sienna Whiten, 8, inside a Doral Isles home. Authorities are investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.
- Officers arrived at Northwest 111th Court and 72nd Terrace around 7:32 p.m. following a welfare check request. All four victims suffered fatal stab wounds, though investigators have not identified which person was responsible.
- Downtown Doral Charter Schools confirmed both girls were students there, stating, "Our community is mourning the loss of two of our beloved students." The school arranged grief counselors on campus to support students and staff.
- Doral Mayor Christi Fraga, who personally knew Hyer, called the incident an "unimaginable tragedy." Fraga emphasized the need for community conversations about mental health and domestic violence.
- The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Homicide Bureau continues investigating alongside The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner. Officials shared support resources including the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 800-799-SAFE and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
