Using the Jewish holiday of Sukkot as a pretext, 1143 Israelis, who had seized Palestinian lands, raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem under heavy Israeli police protection. Religious ceremonies and Talmudic rituals were performed in the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, on the second day of Sukkot, 260 Israelis raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem under the protection of Israeli police. The Governorate described the provocative tours in the courtyards and the Talmudic rituals as a continuous violation of the status quo at Al-Aqsa.
