Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the assassinations of Darío Santillan and Maximiliano Kosteki who were moving in Puente Pueyrredón, in the municipality of Avellaneda in Buenos Aires. They were not terrorists, but social and neighborhood activists who demanded a better quality of life for the neighborhoods ravaged by the neoliberal decline that erupted in 2001 in Argentina.
As on 26 June, relatives of Kosteki and Santillan, along with social, political, trade union, student and cultural organizations, once again repudiated this state crime committed by the Peronist governments of Duhalde and Sola in 2002. A cry of struggle and commitment in times of more adjustment and repression.
