On Saturday, 21 February, members of the Ecological and Social Alliance 06, including Greenpeace Nice, briefly deployed banners against the organisation of the Olympic Games Alpes 2030. They denounce a lack of citizen consultation, the environmental impact of the infrastructure and the cost of the project for the municipality of Nice.

After lighting up the streets of Paris in 2024, the Olympic flame will be making a return to France in 2030, when the French Alps are set to welcome the Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Organisers have promised financially and environmentally sustainable games, where 93 percent of pre-existing infrastructure will be reused. However, with only four years to go and a number of criticisms, will France be able to deliver on time and on budget?
The Olympic Committee could introduce up to five new disciplines for the 2030 Winter Olympic Games in the French Alps.
