San Francisco's Chase Center, Valkyries to Host 2027 WNBA All-Star Game
Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said Bay Area fans and the Golden State Valkyries helped secure the league showcase for the first time.
On Tuesday, the Women's National Basketball Association announced the Golden State Valkyries will host the 2027 All-Star Weekend at the Chase Center in San Francisco, marking the first time the league's midseason showcase visits the Bay Area.
Since their inception in 2023, the Valkyries have sold out all home games, and this rapid success alongside passionate fan support influenced the league's decision to award the event to the region.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert stated, "We are thrilled to bring AT&T WNBA All-Star to the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time." Valkyries President Jess Smith called the selection an "incredible honor" for the franchise's third season.
The shooting skills challenge and 3-point contest begin July 30, 2027, with the All-Star Game on July 31, 2027. The weekend will include WNBA Live, community events, and watch parties.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie described the city as the "center of the sports world," citing the 2028 MLB All-Star Game and recent major sporting events including the Super Bowl and FIFA World Cup.
