BMW 3 Series M350 Brings 437bhp Straight Six – and Drift Mode
BMW says the M350 xDrive uses a 437-hp inline-six, an electronic rear differential and Drift Moment software to sharpen the new 3 Series.
- BMW is conducting final summer driving dynamics testing in Miramas, France, on the upcoming 2027 3-Series prototype, recently releasing photos of the camouflaged vehicle ahead of production.
- Following the Neue Klasse route used by the i3 and iX3, the new 3-Series lineup features the flagship M350 xDrive, integrating 48V mild hybrid technology and a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine.
- Engineers prioritized chassis dynamics, achieving an "almost perfectly balanced distribution of weight between the axles." The M350 produces 437 horsepower, utilizing an active rear differential and variable sport steering.
- Inside, the 3-Series adopts the pillar-to-pillar BMW Panoramic iDrive display, which conveys instrument cluster information at the base of the windshield, splitting the difference between traditional clusters and head-up displays.
- While the M350 currently features all-wheel drive, the exclusive Drift Moment rear-drive mode will arrive as an over-the-air update in 2027, coinciding with the broader 3-Series launch.
