Ford Just Unveiled a Factory-Built Turbocharged Drift Mustang
The 2026 Mustang RTR offers a 315-horsepower turbocharged coupe with specialized drifting hardware and an optional performance kit to boost power to 350 hp, aimed at novice drifters.
- Arriving in summer of 2026, the Mustang RTR was developed by Ford Motor Co. and drifting champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. to make drifting accessible to novices.
- Ford framed the RTR as an attainable entry point designed to attract younger performance buyers, with Gittin Jr. saying `this vehicle is going to be accessible to people that GTs are not.`
- Equipped for drifting, Ford installed an anti-lag system, a factory drift lever/Drift Brake, ten-speed automatic, and Brembo six-piston front calipers with 15.3-inch rotors.
- Pricing-Wise, the RTR is expected in a $43-45K zone, available only on EcoBoost High and EcoBoost Premium coupes, with no manual due to Ford removing it in 2024.
- Borrowing hardware, Ford fitted Mustang Dark Horse rear subframe, adjustable strut brackets and stabilizer bars, while optional MagneRide dampers and Tarnished Dark Anodized trim with 19-inch wheels enhance appeal.
