2025 MG S5 EV: New ZS EV replacement becomes Australia's cheapest electric SUV
- MG Motor Australia will launch the 2025 S5 EV small electric SUV next month as a replacement for the ZS EV, priced from $40,490 drive-away.
- The S5 EV introduction follows the recent release of the second-generation MG ZS in hybrid and petrol forms, positioning the S5 as the most affordable battery-electric SUV in Australia.
- The SUV offers two trims, Excite and Essence, with 49kWh and 62kWh battery options delivering between 410km and 515km range, powered by a 125kW rear-wheel-drive motor producing 250Nm torque.
- MG includes a free 7kW Charge Hub valued at $1,199 for the first 500 deposit-paying customers, and all variants come with a 10-year/250,000km warranty and advanced driver aids.
- The launch suggests MG aims to provide competitive value for families seeking electric SUVs, leveraging upgraded technology and the popular MG4 platform to meet strong local demand.
