- Schneider and Laurie Schneider found both children unresponsive in the water immediately after the collision and rushed them to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
- Officials confirmed the channel marker's lights were operational at the time, while Councilman James Byrnes observed a life jacket near one child during CPR efforts; the crash remains under investigation.
- The incident marks the second fatal boat crash on Barnegat Bay this year, following Gunnar Pearson's death in a separate collision around Memorial Day.
