2 killed and 3 injured in shootings near a shopping mall north of Dallas, police say
Police said the shooting was not random and involved people who knew each other, with the suspect later arrested after a brief foot chase.
On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, 69-year-old Seung Han Ho shot five people at K Towne Plaza in Carrollton, Texas, killing two and injuring three, Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo confirmed shortly before 10 a.m.
Arredondo stated the shooting was "not a random act" but stemmed from a known business relationship, as investigators believe Ho met the victims for a business transaction when he opened fire.
Following a short foot chase, police apprehended Ho about 4 miles away at a grocery store, while FBI agents joined local law enforcement collecting evidence at K Towne Plaza.
The three injured victims were transported to local hospitals and are expected to be OK, while authorities maintained an active scene and urged residents to avoid the area.
Community member John Jun, active in the Korean American community, described Koreatown as "very generally a peaceful community," highlighting the impact on an area home to over 4,000 residents of Korean descent.
