2 dead after a plane crashes into Ohio home
Authorities said the cause is unknown and no one in the home was injured as firefighters battled flames after the impact.
On Thursday, a 1963 Piper Cherokee crashed into a home on Canterbury Circle in Akron, Ohio, killing two people on board. Police responded shortly before 4 p.m.
Departing from Akron Fulton Airport approximately four miles east, the aircraft struck a home in the Coventry Crossing development. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
Fire damage was visible on the residence after the impact, though no residents were injured. Akron Fire crews responded to heavy black smoke, and two homes were evacuated.
Troopers, fire, and EMS personnel continue assessing the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol stated, 'The crash remains an active investigation,' urging residents to avoid the area.
Police have not released identities of the deceased or the aircraft's final destination. Residents are encouraged to avoid the area while emergency personnel continue their investigation.
