Murder-suicide leaves 2 boys and their father dead, Ottawa police say
Police are linking the deaths of two boys and their father to fires at three scenes and say no public threat remains.
- On Monday, the Ottawa Police Service launched a murder-suicide investigation after officers found two young boys, ages 7 and 12, dead in a Findlay Creek home and their father deceased in a burned vehicle near Kemptville, Ontario.
- The Ontario Provincial Police are assisting investigators by securing multiple sites believed connected to the case, including a business fire in Iroquois, Ontario, about 80 kilometres south of Ottawa.
- Leading the inquiry, the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit describes the case as "ongoing and complex" while officials work to notify next of kin before releasing any identities.
- Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to public safety, while local official Steve Desroches expressed shock at the "heartbreaking tragedy" affecting the Findlay Creek community.
- Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit, while those in crisis can reach the Canada Suicide Crisis Helpline by calling or texting 988 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
