16-year-old girl climbs Sagarmatha
Sui Cho Yuan, a Chinese national, successfully reached atop Everest via the south slope at 5:42am on Monday. Yuan said she was inspired by her father, Lei, who had scaled the Everest from the north slope in 2007. Former Chair of Nepal Mountaineering Association Ang Chhiring Sherpa said there was no provision for issuing permit to people below 16.
