A rare red health alert has been issued for the Canary Islands as temperatures are set to surpass 39C.

The Government of the Canary Islands, through the Directorate-General for Emergencies, has drawn up a list of 14 recommendations with which to address the red alert due to maximum temperatures that the Canary Islands is suffering in recent days and which has even caused three people to be affected by heat shocks in the Archipelago after 44-degree peaks were reached during the weekend.
