Prices for petrol and diesel have risen sharply. Austria has decided to re-issue the fuel-price brake to relieve the burden on drivers, thus saving 12 cents per litre.
Mineral oil tax is reduced by 6.7 cents. "Don't let high fuel prices rush through the economy and households," says the Federal Government.
More than ever, the Federal Government will soon intervene in the prices at Austria's petrol stations. 12.2 cents per litre – also paid by the oil companies themselves – will be saved at the pumps in October and November.
The Austrian Executive has approved a reduction of 6.7 cents per litre in the hydrocarbon tax, and a profit-free limit for petrol stations of 3.5 cents.
Under the impression of the recently massively increased oil prices, the black-red-pink federal government has now agreed on a new fuel price brake.
Following the recent noticeable price increases in petrol and diesel, the government is reacting again: from October onwards, the fuel price brake will be reintroduced in an expanded version, with the measure being limited to two months for the time being.
